Hi.

Tried to read through the 100+ new messages now but had to
give up when not finding any VMS related posts.

Could we just ditch all Linux, SCO, AIX, whatever stuff?
I'm sure there are other appropriate forums for those OS'es.

Tell you what: I see some other posts in this group that might interest
you: one about free calls to some Middle-East country, another one
advertising some medical product attached to the name of a former Oprah
protégé, and something about photography services and even tailoring.

With what's been done to Linux over the years, I'm leaning towards
switching to one of the BSDs, or even OpenVMS/x86 (if they can allow
third party drivers so I can actually run this bare metal on my
Threadripper and have nice things like X11/Wayland as my OpenVMS
desktop). 

None of the BSDs have been infected by the madness that's currently
afflicting Linux and FreeBSD supports ZFS which I use daily with Linux.

(just throwing more fuel on the fire :-D ...)

I don't see any of those, but that's because I am using Eternal September.

If you are having problems skipping through the junk, you can either wait
a month for it to stop, or switch to using Eternal September.

Perhaps that's because VMS is so complete and reliable, there
is no longer anything to discuss about it ?.

Continued exposure to new ideas helps to guard against the
"hardening of the attitudes", as we all get a bit older, and
a bit more wrinkly :-).

whereas before you were complaining about seeing it.

Maybe you are on the wrong USENET plan? Maybe you need to contact your
USENET provider about moving onto a plan that better suits your needs? Or
if they can’t offer you one, move onto another, more appropriate USENET

I have been working my whole professional life, every single day
for over 40 years now, with VMS and I cannot see any more appropiate
group than c.o.v.

I'm just asking that this group could stick to VMS.

I'm highly waiting on this, while testing some devices and code in Alpha
and Itanium systems, for when that floodgate opens. A fair amount of
things i'm working on are hardware support for specialty things, and lack
of being able to (so far) load my own drivers without some insane steps
is... well, putting things on hold for people who're excited to get rid of
some older hardware.

I've been told writing drivers for OpemVMS/x86 is an insane process!
