Background: I have been using Thunderbird for e-mail and newsgroup
access for many years. While it has some issues, I have been generally
happy with it. Recently, the Thunderbird team has released a new
version, 115, code named Supernova. Its primary claimed advantage was a
complete rewrite of the UI code to make it easier to maintain, and add
some features. After waiting a few weeks to verify there were no
showstopper bugs reported, I installed it.

Issue: one of the changes to the UI was that they eliminated the
vertical and horizontal lines in the message header pane that
graphically indicated threading. As anyone who posts here realizes, our
threads often get very deep, with lots of nested sub threads, etc. I
really liked the display as, for example, it eased finding the
"ancestor" of a post.

When I asked about this in the Thunderbird help forum, the responses
indicated that the developers had removed the feature, and it seems like
it won't be back soon.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1829470

Another responder suggested moving to Betterbird, saying that they had
added that feature back.

https://betterbird.eu/index.html

So, my question. Does anyone here have experience with Betterbird
and/or opinions about it?

No opinion on betterbird, but since I'm using SeaMonkey which gets its
mail/news component from mozilla/thunderbird, I guess I might be in the
market soon, so thanks for the link!
