Yes i know this is a very old topic but i recently found that in
Windows11 the explorer lacks such a feature, can anyone help for an
elegant solution?

Scenario:
Two people with same model of smartphone go on holiday and make fotos +
videos. Back home everything is thrown into one folder on the PC as this
makes it easier to treat in video editing software.
Most phones save files in the format IMG_DDMMYY_HNMM so if both take a
picture or video at the same time stamp, the file names are identica.
Usually i just connect the phones to pc via cable, select the files, go
"copy" and go "paste" on the HDD folder.
In some versions of Windows when there was a file name collision, it
said something like "override file, don't copy, keep both" (in German
version of Windows with German wording but same); in Windows11 with all
updates, i just noticed that THE FEATURE IS GONE.
At collision, the explorer only says "override" or "don't copy" (don't
copy at all) so there is no more 3rd option to keep both.

Yes i know there are command line options like ROBOCOPY and there are
programs like "total commander" but all more difficult to use everyday.
Does someone have a simple elegant solution to this or even a parameter
to set so that the spartanic Windows Explorer offers a third option?
many tnx in advance
greetings from Vienna in Austria and a happy "Nikolaus" and pre-xmas time
Roland

Yes this is exactly what i want (e.g. adding a number to the end of the
file name so that both files are kept if there is a filename-collision)
and this option was offered in many Windows versions.
What am i doing wrong? Have Windows11 (23H2 and all updates) and the
third option is NOT shown, it shows me "override" or "Skip".
My origin folder is the smartphone connected via USB cable (so these
folders are somehow emulated) and destination is a folder on HDD, and i
go ... select numerous files on the smartphone folder and go "copy" and
then go "paste" on the HDD folder.
Am i missing something *why* Windows Explorer only offers 2 options?

If the smartphone is the problem, then first COPY the files to an
empty, temporary directory and then, in a second step, MOVE
the files from the temporary directory to the destination directory.
