Hello Dave, I see your post is from a couple of years ago, but seems you went through the same problem I encountered right now.
I am another "die hard" eudora user, and have the TLS v1.2 connection problem - can't connect to the server. I tried to copy Herm SSL files but it didn't work for me. Could you post any tips? May be I am missing something.
Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Barbara, sorry for the delay in replying.
How did you apply the Hermes update, did you use the full installer or the zip file which just contains the updated files?
If the latter, as you seem to be saying, you should have replaced the libeay32.dll, QCSSL.dll, ssleay32.dll, and rootcerts.p7b files in the Eudora program files folder with the versions in the zip file. Did you also extract the vcredist.exe file and run it? It contains a system update which you may need. If you just get an error message when you run it, just close it. It means that the update is already installed.
HTH. Dave.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your reply!
I extracted the files and run the vcredist, but it says it's already installed on my computer, and that I should uninstall the existing one first. I am not sure if it's needed.
I copied the files you listed above into the eudora folder, and still does not work.
I will contact my hosting company again tomorrow, but they were no help last three times I called them (they don't even understand why would anyone want to keep their mail client/program). Basically, I think it has to do with SSL/TLS connection authentication, as the TLS1.2 is the new current one?
I know it's too hard for you to guess what's wrong with someone's set up, but the conflict came upon me so suddenly, I am still in shock and don't know where to turn.
Thanks again, Barbara.

Just to confirm, you do have 'Required, Alternate Port' selected in 'Secure Sockets' for send and receive on the persona you're using?
What happens if you click the 'Last SSL Info' button after trying to receive or send? Does it say there was a connection made, and if there was, what was the SSL version used?

I didn't have "required, Alternate port" checked, but it doesn't work either. The last SSL is blank. It says "I have never done any SSL negotiation with any personality since last time I started Eudora" This box used to be grayed out (sort of) but after I started changing the files from Hermes, I must have wiped it out.

Rather than just saying, "it doesn't work", it can be important to provide the details of the error message, sometimes...

One time I moved my domain to a new hosting provider and they gave conflicting information on how to set up the email accounts in Eudora. They actually gave zero advice for Eudora, but generically, they told me how to set up for SMTP3 or whatever the protocol is that isn't IMAP. The bottom line was, I kept focusing on the meaning of the rather generic error message, when the real problem was, the password was wrong. I think someone here suggested that I have Eudora forget the password for this account, which would prompt for a new one on the next email access. Sure enough, that did the trick and I was back on the air.

In the menus, Special, Forget Passwords. It's a bit like falling back to defragging your hard drive, but it's easy enough to try.

CORRECTION
I CHANGED THE PORTS SELECTION PER YOUR ADVICE ABOVE AND IT WORKED!!!
Customer service at my my hosting company -- they had absolutely no clue, and drove me crazy. I am so glad I found this post/conversation, and am so grateful that you actually replied with instructions. It literally saved my life. I am not sure if anyone understands how big of a deal it was for me. Thank you so much for your help!
Barbara
