Sadly, I think much of this change was inevitable. The simple elegance
of resources was already being exploited by malicious software in the
days of Classic Mac OS. I dread to thing how they would fare in the
current threat environment.

A poster here, Dustin J. Cook, is a former Black Hat Hacker and has
tried for years to hurt other Internet users.

He wrote real-life viruses and released them to the world. Here's one:-

His current 'User Name' on the Usenet is Gremlin.

Just so you know. He was never caught and punished.

To be fair, David, you were also never punished for your behavior after you were
caught. Instead, you were allowed to retire to avoid a scandal. Since then,
you've never acknowledged or publicly apologized for what you did, unlike
Gremlin, who has expressed remorse many times over the years. It's a shame you
can't manage to be a little more like him in that regard.

Having said that, what's the point of continually sliming him across multiple
newsgroups? Are you still upset that he refused to commit felony computer
trespass on your behalf? That was a long time ago. When is it time to let it go?
Just admit to yourself that you screwed up, royally, and move on from your
mistake.

I find no amusement in your cartoons. :-(

If Dustin actually causes real-life harm to Snit I'm sure the full force
of the law will be brought into play.

My advice to Dustin would be to apologise to Snit for threatening him
and then both of them start over afresh.

It's down to Dustin himself as to what transpires.

The brand leader is always attacked.

Personal attacks from those who troll show their own insecurity. They cannot use reason to show the message to be wrong so they try to feel somehow superior by attacking the messenger.

They cling to their attacks and ignore the message time and time again.
