Another interesting difference betwwen win 10 Home and Pro

When I started up Macrium Reflect Free in Home, a box appeared on its
own saying that there would be no more updates (other than security and
bug fixes iirc) after this Jnauary 1, some of it in red, and there was a
button to update.

OTOH, on Pro there was no popup message box, and when I clicked on Check
for Product Updates on the Internet, I got the same box that described
the same last bug fixes and improvements that Home had given, but there
was no warning at the top like what appeared in Home, in red or black.

The file dates on my Pro installation are about 8 months older than my
Home, March 2021 rather than November 2021. So I'm 8 months more in
need of an update. How come Pro is treated differently? Do they think
anyone who has Pro ought to know what he's doing, or maybe ought to buy
it instead of relying on Free?

I've been backing up my data files with XXCopy frequently, but this is
the first time for many months? that I've backed up the whole partition.
Should I buy the non-free version?

Oops. After I dled the latest update to Pro, it said that it was
Macrium Reflect 7. 7, and did I want to go to 8. So I wen to 8 and
then it gave the same message box that Home had given.

Sorry.

Pro and Home when running check for updates - Windows does the exact same
thing.

Pro, unlike Home - may have an option to download updates prior to
clicking the check for updates option; Home typically updates without
giving the user a chance to decide, i.e. automatic download and install
of updates.
Note: there may be some variation on other updates, like .NET which may
or may not prompt to download/install on Pro or Home.

Someone here wrote and posted NoReboot which is a suprisingly (to me)
simple program that just repeatedly changes the 8? hour period which the
user can set to prohibit updating, so that it is always within that 8
hour period. I think it makes the period run from 2 hours ago to 6
hours from now, but it updates frequently, so it is always 5-6 hours
before updating is allowed.

If you or anyone wants it, I can send it to you .

No thanks at this end. Quite comfortable with the current W11/10 Pro o/s
provided features for updating and if necessary(rare) deploying an update
with downloaded build from the Catalog.

In fact, the frequency of latest deployed updates has occurred on the
same cycle for years and if one desires the content publicly available in
advance of most local deployment. More than enough time to accomodate the
few minutes it takes to update a device.
