taking into account previous years and decades of the same
reports, say that usenet is definitatly dying (or rather, dead
already).

If you realy want to quanitify this with stats that support your
shallow hypothesis, then look at overall traffic. Here's one

This is mostly because the binary groups are used.
Traffic on text groups become less over the years.
