The BBC and others report that an aircraft carrying
Wagner Group financier/co-founder Yevgeny Prigozhin,
born June 1st 1961,was shot down over Russia on
August 23rd 2023.

It will be interesting to see how it is explained,
who the other nine on board were,and what reaction
it gets.

More stereotypically deaths convenient to Vladimir
Putin are arranged by way of poison or falls from
windows...but this time apparently someone with an
anti-aircraft missile or two handy happened to be
practicing when a civilian private plane flew by.

Now reported that the other co-founder,Dimitry Utkin
(born June 11,1970) was also on the plane(the Wikipedes
assert he "has not made any public appearances since
2016",let's see if a recognizable corpse is found).

I wonder if y'all are being a bit premature here; haven't been following the war in general or this sidebar story in particular today, but has it been established that Russians (or their agents) brought the passenger jet down?

That is, couldn't it have been some behind-the-Ruskie-lines Unkrainian unit launching a ground-to-air missile? Or even some high-speed drone under Ukrainian control which not-at-all-accidentally collided with it? I realize that Putin-authorized commandos are Suspects #1, but still, it seems to me way too early to be drawing conclusions.

Except this much-more-generalized one: I agree with fading GOP hopeful Ron DeSantis--Americans DON'T have a dog in this fight. (But we sure will if this regional war leads in the long run to a nuclear exchange with NATO. Or the short run.

America's and NATO's dog in any fight Russia picks is
whoever Russia picked the fight with.
A Russia that succeeds at beating up other countries
is always against our interests...they need to learn
not to do that.
