Some say that acronymns should be written in all caps. If so, then it
should be CAPTCHA. It is an acronym for "Completely Automated Public
Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart"

Google does render it in all caps:

I, as someone who claims to be human, often fail a CAPTCHA test. When
asked to select all parts of the image that show bicycles, for example,
I will miss seeing the section that is so unclear that I can't tell what
it shows. This is probably a challenge that an AI would handle better
than I do.

I don't believe anybody writes LASER or RADAR or PAKISTAN that way.

This is a case where you missed *my* point. "Some say..." indicates
that not all adhere.

You haven't seen it written with initial letter capped and the rest of
the letters in lower case? You didn't read "someone"'s post?

Drifting a bit...pulling up a site about capitalization of acronyms,
one warned me that to view the site I had to "Accept all cookies".

If that site was viewed in the UK, would it use "Accept all biscuits"?

My claim is that nobody does, even if they say that. If they did adhere,
we'd see LASER, for example.

I don't know if I fail, but I usually have to fill out four ore more of
them. I never get an explanation why.

Not if they count them as names and not acronyms.

Some acronyms have what it takes to become normal words. ASDIC didn't,
sonar did.

I've never seen that, and I don't recall seeing the name in all-caps. It's just
seemed like a geek-speak cutesy version of "Capture."

> Google does render it in all caps:

Let's see what the Captcha page summoned by GG has. (And it's just
a checkbox, not a visual puzzle, the last one of which I encountered
wanted "Crosswalks" and when that didn't work, "buses.")

Possibly because you failed to notice the small corner of a blurry
traffic light in the background of one of the cells.

There is someone (a recognized crackpot) at sci.physics.relativity who
insists that there is a woman's hand in a photo of Hitler and his
buddies in 1925. No one else can see it.

That discussion does not mention the simplified version
where CAPTCHA is there in large letters, to discourage
the AI hacker, but the test is to check the box that
says, "I am not a robot."

I've seen "Captcha" enough that I don't need to see it in
discussions written in all-caps. A CAPTCHA page, however,
does seem to be a place for all-caps.
