i checked (in the News, and Newspaper articles) to confirm that
the phrase 'lean on the wall' is pretty common.

[5 times more frequent] is one my pet peeves... in English-Usage

You probably mean [5 times as frequent]

Often non-science, non-Math types don't know the difference between the two.

My guess is that you REALLY don't like the expression
which is the other half of the pair, "5 times less frequent".

I'm among the science-and-math types, and I've grown
to accept "5 times less" because it is so convenient.
