"Former President Donald Trump revealed an unusual plan to stop wildfires from raging in California.

Trump suggested that the Golden State's rougly 33 million acres of forest should be kept damp while speaking at a California Republicans' convention in Anaheim on Friday.

"They say that there's so much water up north that I want to have the overflow areas go into your forests and dampen your forests, because if you dampen your forests you're not gonna have these forest fires that are burning at levels that nobody's ever seen," Trump said to a cheering crowd.

"All the currently dry canals will be brimming and used to irrigate everything, including your own homes and bathrooms and everything, you're going to be happy, and I'm going to get it done fast," he added.

The former president also took the opportunity to criticize the state for "very poor land management."

Trump has previously falsely claimed that California wildfires were sparked by trees that "explode," and he has long subscribed to the theory that wildfires could be prevented if forests were cleared of dead trees and debris.

In 2018, Trump suggested raking leaves on forest floors could help prevent fires."

It's Like watching a modern version of The Wizard of Oz. Everyone is going to be happy. If they aren't they can go out and rake leaves with the rest of his fantasy army.

LOL..I'd love to know from where "upnorth" all this water is going to come from. I'm not particularly smitten with the idea of dampening the forests to prevent wildfires, but a reliable water source for everyday use is of great interest. We're out of the "profound drought," but it looks like dry conditions are with us going forward.

Enjoy the day,

Well, heck. We have a treaty with Mexico that requires us to send them 1.5 million acre feet of Colorado river water every year. The treaty has been modified to make some adjustments in drought years. We could start by keeping that water. Then all we need is a really big system of lawn sprinklers. We can probably get Mexico to pay for it. They have started to remove the dams from the Klamath river. That's probably a big mistake. And besides, Commifornia has a whole ocean right next door. There's no rule that says you have to use fresh water to dampen a state.

I just mow my grass. After two mowings, the leaves are gone.

Theory don't mean squat if it don't work.

Funny you mentioned that. A neighbor some years ago asked how I get rid
of leaves from my yard. I told him I use my "power rake". He was
impressed until I told him it was my lawnmower.
