Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 65-year-old Asian female.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Junko Ellen Hanafusa.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Blunt Force Head Trauma

RIP JUNKO ELLEN HANAFUSA (June 16, 1958 – December 25, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 4:30 p.m.

The decedent appears to have been of Japanese descent. She was attacked by a homeless person with a sledgehammer on the El Camino College campus on Christmas Eve; she passed away at the hospital the following day.

Jeffery Davis, 40, has been identified as the attacker. He has been arrested and is being held without bail.

Typical black-on-Asian hate crime. This has been happening for a long
time and nobody wants to talk about it.

Give us a fucking break. She wasn't mugged, the more typical crime.
This was flat-out battery intending to kill.

There were hate crimes blaming random Asian ethnics for COVID but, in a
mugging, you don't look for that kind of motive obviously.

Murder with a sledgehammer? That's not typical at all.
