"Texas State University has launched a no-cost Narcan distribution
program for students, faculty and staff to access the naloxone nasal
spray ? a life-saving medication that can quickly counter overdose
effects from opioid drugs such as heroin, morphine, codeine, fentanyl
and oxycodone.

The university recently announced that naloxone will be available at
three distribution locations at its main campus in San Marcos and at one
location at its Round Rock campus.

Dr. Sarah Doss, interim director of University Health Services and chief
medical officer, said the program is designed to reach people who are at
risk or know someone who is at risk of overdose.

"I think it's important for every campus to be a part of this effort,"
Doss said.

Anyone accessing the medication will not be required to provide their
name and can request a maximum of two per week. Doss said that because
identification won't be required to obtain the medication, anyone can
receive it."
