In Texas they're escalating the penalties because they know that's
a good way to fill their prisons.

"The 88th Texas Legislative Session amended state law allowing an
individual who "knowingly manufactures or delivers fentanyl" and it
results in the death of another person, as a result of injecting,
ingesting, inhaling, or introducing into the individual?s body to be
charged with murder."

The dumbasses and their politicians like this because it's an easy way
to make it look like they're actually doing something about the problem,
with very little effort. This law is generating a lot of headlines as
more and more people are charged with murder. We already know from past
experience that the headlines won't change the situation out on the
streets.
