When a classmate moved to rural West Virginia her husband would hunt
them and if I remember correctly she said she would roast a hind quarter
in the oven. They're like rabbits in that they're vegetarian and eat grass..

Let us know how your dinner turns out!!

When I was a teen my best friend's family moved to a 45 acre farm. They
boarded cattle and the nieghbours on both sides had horses. We were
encouraged to hunt ground hogs. You could go a farm and ask permission
to hunt and they would sometimes give you a box of bullets.

I can appreciate that there is a little bit of humor to doing that....
maybe once. I can't see their customers being very happy about it. They
pay for programming, not for a stupid joke,

It took Ann a moment to answer. "That first day, well, Tuesday, when
you said, 'Welcome to my world', you weren't exaggerating. This isn't
the planet I grew up on."
..
"Like I just said, you'll get used to it. Hey, you know what day it is?"

"Saturday."

"Well yeah," said Winter, "but it's also Groundhog Day."

"I believe if every day were exactly like the day we met, that I

It must be working out, because they do this every year on Groundhog
day. I remember that from when I lived in a house with cable TV years
ago. IIRC, one channel played the movie "Christmas Story" on loop for
24 hours on Christmas day, every year. They probably still do. I'd
watch it, once, when convenient.

It seems a little odd to me that a specialty station would do that. I
thought that most satellite and cable receivers these days had recording
functions. If someone wanted to watch it at another time they could
simply record it and view at their leisure. That is what I do with most
of the stuff I watch on TV these days. I look through the schedule to
see what is going to be on over the next few days and record them. It
works great for TV shows because I can FF through the commercials, and
for movies that I am interested in. Sometimes when I a channel surfing I
come across a movie that looks interesting so I can go to the search
menu to find when it will be airing again and program it to tape it on
the next airing. There are a few shows that I like and I set it to
record new episodes. FWIW, this week I set it to record the new episodes
of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

They're not a specialty station. In any event, it's a gimmick. They're
trying to get people who are idly channel-surfing to stop and watch.

People are lazy, Dave.

I would say that it is a little more than a plot device. It is the plot.

I bet there are a handful of people that will watch it every time it
shows too. Make some more popcorn, it is on again.

Ground hog burrows can wreak havoc on livestock legs. That's why
they supplied the bullets.
On a different note, my youngest granddaughter turned 21 yesterday.

The major U.S. stations will be releasing their "Fall" schedule in the
coming weeks. I miss "The Rookie", "Young Sheldon" and a few others.
All I've been watching is C&I (aka Murder Porn) for the last six months.
The good news is that with my short term memory shot, I can watch the
same show two weeks later and think, "Hey, this is new!"

Exactly. We rarely see groundhogs around here and can't shoot rifles
because it is a little too built up. It was a different matter up
there. Farms were well spaced out and it was nice and hilly so there was
always a safe backstop.

Happy birthday to your granddaughter! Hopefully she didn't shoot a
groundhog.

Not into any of those. I had been looking forward to the reboot of
Frasier but I was terribly disappointed in it. I watched the first two
episodes and that was enough. Kelsey Grammer was okay reprising his lead
role but the role of the son was a horrible. It's a shame because the
original show was brilliant. There was great writing and acting. It is
rare that a spinoff is as good as the original and even rarer that it is
better than the original.

Brilliant, he says. Ghe ghe. It was a run of the mill comedy with a
laughing tape. Lame entertainment for the masses.

Groundhog holes were used as a plot device in this tale. I guess it was probably prairie dog holes but what the heck, they probably taste the same anyway.
