Alas, I did not hear it was today until late this afternoon and I don't
have any ground beef with which to make sloppy joe sandwiches.

I should make some. Years ago, we had them a couple of times a month.
It was an easy Saturday meal and I'd make variations of them with a few
ingredient adds, be it herbs, cheese, etc.

Perhaps I'll buy some lean ground beef and make sloppy joes next
weekend. I do like them with some shredded cheese stirred into the
sauced meat and the hamburger buns lightly toasted so they aren't quite
so "sloppy" :)

They're good, but a hell of a mess to eat. Almost as messy as a plate of
sauced ribs.

Ground pork works well as a sub .
I got a day outta sync I thought it was Taco Tuesday ... ground pork
makes a dandy taco too . The aroma of Spanish seasoned rice is
permeating the house as it simmers .
(my wife has digestive issues with beef so...)

Far too indelicate a comestible for HRH Jill... even with her hands protected by the finest lace - trimmed kid gloves...

If she did eat such peasant foods she'd also have to use much larger gold vermeil finger bowls... the kind they used at Versailles...

Well hey, it's Monday. I don't have any ground pork so couldn't use it
as a sub for sloppy joe regardless of the day, although the last time I
made sloppy joes I did use "taco seasoning". :) No rice, though.

That's one of the wife's dishes , I'm not certain what's in it . I do
know there's ground meat , tomato sauce , onions and spices . At one
time I know her recipe included some prepared mustard and some ketchup .
I'm pretty sure the current one doesn't .

I usually make them a little "tighter" and don't add so much meat
to the bun. Rarely sloppier than a burger.
