What will you be tucking a napkin under chin for this evening?
If you decide to go out for dinner, just place that napkin in
your lap. 😊

Here it is going to an eye of round roast that I plopped into
the Ninja Foodi before heading to the grocery store a few hours
ago. Some scrubbed and halved roasted new potatoes will be the
vegetable to accompany the meal. It's quite overcast, chilly,
and windy here so this will be a welcomed warm meal.

Before heading to the grocery I did have my car washed. It
was covered in dust and pollen even though it's always under
the carport when at home. Surprising how dusty it was and
it was a sickly gold color due to the pollen.

Before shopping I used my Kroger March bonus points to fill
up with gas. I had enough points to subtract $2.85 per gallon
from $3.77⁹ for high test. My price per gallon ended up being
92⁹¢ and I had a bit over a quarter of a tank left when I filled
up for $13.00.

Dinner tonight is curried chicken and garbanzos, with onions, mushrooms,
and carrots, served over brown basmati rice, and topped with white, pale
green, purple, and orange cauliflower, and broccoli

My first experience of French cuisine was at a restaurant in London.
A French family took a nearby table and they were clearly upper
middle/professional class. Papa ordered snails and when served, he
tucked his napkin under his chin and I thought "how sensible" and to
hell with English table manners.

The SUN is finally out, it's been a cold and dreary week, with snow no less...

Earlier today I made some spaghetti sauce, with Eye - talina snausage... most will be frozen...

Have you used up all those grocery coupons/gift certs you won last year, Joan...???

And we need a KITTY pic from ya...

Going out for pizza to celibrate "National Deep Dish Pizza Day".
Tomorrow night will be corn dogs and tater tots, in honor of 2024 NCAA
Final Four.

I'm having some leftover stuffed peppers, with mashed potatoes, and maybe
something else I see in the fridge. Banana pie for desert.

I just washed my old dodge truck last spring, so it's good until at least
2025. But I do hate you for mentioning gas. That damn truck burns it like
there's no tomorrow. I'd get rid of it if I had lots of money.

My wife picked up some pickerel for supper and then did a wonderful job
of cooking it. Air fries, steamed brocolli, salad and a whole grain
roll to go with it. It was all very good.

Chuck roast, boiled <gasp!> new potatoes cooked until fork tender,
drained then put back in the pan and tossed with butter, S&P and
parsley. Steamed broccoli to go with it. :)

Damn, that's a good deal. BJs is offering 50 cents off if you spend
$150 in April. I can do that.

The credit card I use for gas gives me 3% back. Got the statement by
category today and I spent $780 for gas in 2023. About 9 cents a mile.

Is there anything GM can say or do that would make you stop talking to

Lunch Friday was vegetable soup with some sliced sausage in it.
Dinner was salad with leftover grilled salmon on it.

Not much pollen here, yet. It snowed a little bit yesterday.
Nevertheless, it's almost time to give the lawn its first mowing.

It's time for me to start thinking about spring cleanup. I should get
the battery into the lawn tractor and hook up the trailer to pick up the
branches and stuff on the lawn. I should probably lay off on that for a
bit because the lawn is still very wet. Heck, it had a layer of snow on
it yesterday. There are some flowers blooming so it could be a good
time to rake up the leaves in the gardens and around the shrubs.

Don found a forgotten bottom round of beef so that's in the crockpot
with Yukon potatoes, 2 carrots, 5-6 garlic cloves, a medium onion, some
red wine and water with a Pho seasoning cube.

After the big dump we had this past week and the big one a couple of

30 cm would be about twice as much as we had all winter. It was pretty
mild here. He had rain instead of snow. It was odd to wake up to white
yesterday, especially since it was above freezing, but there wasn't much
and it was gone by 9:30.

Tell more about these pho seasoning cubes. Where do you buy them and how do
they compare to the cheese clothed warm spices method?

I'm not Carol but Pho (a Vietnamese soup) "seasoning cubes" seem to be
quite similar to beef bouillon cubes. Hopefully she will elaborate. :)

Indeed, your majesty. All asian countries are exactly the same. The pho you
ate in Thailand is likely the same slop made Vietnam, or even sasebo japan.

And I'm grateful your highness is not Carol.

Weather clearing. After tonight, we can start populating the container
garden. Songbird has the flu and ground too messy just yet to work
with (from another newsgroup of gardeners).

I can't say how they compare to a cheesecloth wrapped set but I found
this link.

https://runawayrice.com/cooking-basics/essential-pho-spices-guide/

(the text should be screen readable). I get it in cube form (no bags)
so all powdered. I use a local place called American Asian Food
Market. Fair sized place. It's one of many ethnic groceries here in
Virginia Beach. This is the cleanest and nicest one that has fresh
produce but not as HUGE as the International market and better prices.
Very much a 'mom-n-pop' type independant store.

The cubes I am using have only one word in English. Pho. Comes in 3
colors and if I have the color scheme right, blue is pork (mine) while
red is beef and yellow is chicken.
