What did you finish the ebony with? The top spindle looks like glass.

2400 grit abrasive and then a thin coat of varnish. Now I would
probably use successively finer grits up to 12,000 and not bother
with a finish.
On pens I finish with several coats of medium super-glue then sand
up to 12,000 grit for a mirror finish.

Haha, sounds like things are getting a little too healthy! Maybe we
can sneak in some chocolate chips for those cookies? I'm on punch
duty - what kind are you thinking? Crystal Light or something
stronger? ;)

Well, I do understand the guy. Modern flights are an exercise in
humiliation that can make the most peaceful person explode. But I'm
surprised his choosen action was throwing pee on people.

The only other incident I can remember involving throwing pee was Yngwie
Malmsteen on a trip to Tokyo. He got angry with a fellow female
passenger who insulted him because he had throw around tampons with
tomato sauce and one landed in the passengers food. As a respone Yngwie
Malmsteen threw a cup of pee in her face.

Personally, I never experienced any of that. The closest I think was
once on a flight to spain where we first had to sit for 2.5 hours on the
runway. Then the crew had to land in copenhagen due to union rules
(remember, this is socialist EU) and by that time many had not eaten
anything for 10 hours or so, temper was high. But people at least looked
forward to leaving the plane to stretch their legs and buy something at
the airport.

Then the captain announced that no one was allowed to leave the plane,
and that we'd continue to norway in about 1-2 hours, and then a small
riot broke loose.

About 10 people were running to the front threatening and screaming at
the captain, crew and each other, and it was quickly decided that people
should be allowed to leave the plane if they promised not to leave the
gate area.

So once they opened, I quickly left with the wife and persuaded the
airline to let me on a Stockholm flight instead of the roundabout
Oslo->Stockholm which was originally planned.

I think walking is the only sane way left to travel in todays world. I
do it often, and it works great!

The classic is using chopped-up Ex-lax as the chips.

Some of the late guests will probably be lying down. To
avoid any decomposition whiffs I suggest you host the
party outdoors in your garden. Graham should keep his
lid tied on so he can't blow away.

Also in case a cat pushes his container off the table.

Air travel can be annoying enough on its own but obnoxious passengers
can make things much less tolerable. I have been lucky on my last few
flights but they were on smaller jets like a 737Max and an Airbase 231.
Wide bodies carry about twice as many people and that cane mean as much
as four times the number of intolerable assholes to deal with.

I think it was 8 years ago when I flew from Buffalo to John Wayne. That
one was not so pleasant. It started off with a major delay leaving
Buffalo. We were supposed to fly to Newark and on to John Wayne but
the plane was delayed so they had to rebook us before we even got on the
plane. Now we were going to Newark and then to Chicago and then to John
Wayne. The plane finally arrived and he got to Newark in time to make
our connection but then got stuck on the tarmac while we waited for a
gate to get off. We waited out there for so long we missed our
connection and had to rebook again. There was a direct flight.... in 7
hours. We had way to much time to kill. We got on the plane, taxied
out and got stuck in a line waiting to take off. We came close to being
cancelled because John Wayne has a curfew that we may not make.
Apparently they jumped us ahead and we left. Instead of arriving in
California at 2 pm and going out for a dinner with my family and friends
we arrived in time to go to bed.

Returning was better. We flew from San Francisco to Chicago and a
connection to Buffalo. We were a little late getting to O'Hare and
didn't have much time to make out connection. They made an announcement
about a number of us needing to deplane quickly to make connections so
all other passengers were to remain in their seats until we got off.
There were only a few of us who were making that short connection but
wouldn't you know that at least one person in every row got up to get
into the overhead bins or just stood there to stretch their legs.
Finally I yelled at them to sit down because he had to get off NOW.
Surprisingly, they listened to me. We made it.

One of these days I will figure out how it is possible that when take
your turn getting onto a plane and you get to your seat and there is no
one in the nearby seats the overhead bins are already full. What is with
people that they would stash their stuff in a place that is obviously
intended for the people sitting closest to it?

I see we're going to have to make an appointment with an optometrist

It's Miralax cookies and ➡️prune punch.⬅️ Nothing stronger as we
don't want drunks pooping themselves even though Ed is graciously
offering Depends.

Thanks, Dave. Interesting perspective.

Hahahaha. About 60 years ago, my uncle worked as a mechanic at a car
dealer. He brought his lunch every day. Someone (unknown) kept regularly
stealing it, and he'd have to go to a cafe to eat. So, he brought a lunch
with the contents laced with plenty of ex-lax. Then it was pretty obvious
who had eaten it. Another mechanic there.

Thank you! Yes, I made it but unfortunately I have no more of that burl
left to make another like it. I have made some out of plain wood that
can be used for burial.

some don't make it.
