The world's oldesst conjoined twins Lori and George Schappell have died.
What a strange life those two led. They had their own brains but were
attached at the skull. They lived in a two bedroom apartment. George
came out as transgender in 2007. George could walk but Lori was
confined to a wheelchair due to spina bifida. Apparently when Lori went
on a date George would bring a book. I guess their idea of a date is
different from mine because I just can't see a guy dating a girl in a
wheelchair who is attached at the head to her sister now brother. I
don't understand why they had a two bedroom apartment.

Perhaps they used one bedroom as an office. According to the article
they both had careers so I'm going to surmise they "worked from home".

The original "Siamese twins" (Chang and Eng, born in what was then Siam,
later became US citizens) were joined at the side/chest yet they both
got married and between them fathered 21 children. Got to wonder what
kind of women would marry conjoined brothers, eh? <sarcasm> Obviously
the women were able to look beyond the conjoined twin thing and
recognized them as intelligent individuals born in an unfortunate
circumstance.

Coincidentally, Chang and Eng died at the age of 62, the same age as the
conjoined twins Dave mentioned.

with questioning the need for separate bedrooms. It is not a 1950's
sitcom where the parents sleep in separate beds. They have to sleep

and I'm pretty sure they must require a 24/7 live-in
carer. Who also needs to sleep, change their clothes etc.

Dang. My response to that was lost.
Apparently they lived in a home for the mentally disabled but for years
they have been living independently in a seniors apartment building.

Their life sounds like an episode of the Jerry Springer Show, so it no
surprise that they did make an appearance on the show. They even had one
of the boyfriends appear. It is hard enough to understand any normal guy
wanting to get involved with a woman in that situation.I She apparently
had several boyfriends. There was even a fiancee who died in a motor
vehicle accident.
