Why did BBC ban the song [Jerusalem] from airplay? -- Was it considered (to be suggestive of) Blasphemy or Devil-Worship or something?

How come it's not included in this list ???

do you detect classical allusions by Blake that i might have missed???

Blake's poem

And did those feet in ancient time,
Walk upon Englands mountains green:
And was the holy Lamb of God,
On Englands pleasant pastures seen!

And did the Countenance Divine,
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here,
Among these dark Satanic Mills?

Bring me my Bow of burning gold:
Bring me my Arrows of desire:
Bring me my Spear: O clouds unfold:
Bring me my Chariot of fire!

I will not cease from Mental Fight,
Nor shall my Sword sleep in my hand:
Till we have built Jerusalem,
In Englands green & pleasant Land.

------------- frankly, i don't understand what the poem is
saying... Jesus was never in England, right ?

Shhhhh! We're past Easter now and the tourist season is getting into
gear. There's a town in the West Country of England that keeps its
citizens well fed on these legends. Glastonbury. There are gift-shops,
pubs, restaurants, festivals and an old abbey where you can get guided
tours or hire an MP3-player to carry around and point out the places of
interest; especially the crypts where the Holy Grail lies.
Jesus came to England with his uncle, Joseph of Arimathea. They were
seeking spiritual enlightenment; they were lucky not to have been
captured by Druids and burnt in a wicker-man.
After the Crucifixion Joseph sent the Holy Grail and some other Relics
to Glastonbury.
It's also sometimes mooted that Jesus came here with Mary Magdalen after
the Crucifixion.
As to Blake's poem, well that third stanza is a little bit too risqué
for us Brits. We're not all as immodest as Blake was. (:-

>>> Japanese tourists who visit the Lake District to experience the world of Beatrix Potter will be asked to pay £5 for conservation work. In return they will be given a pin badge of Peter Rabbit, her most famous creation.

The unusual levy - thought to be the first time visitors from one particular country have been targeted in this way - could raise £25,000-a-year towards the upkeep of footpaths and supporting wildlife projects.

------------- Clearly discrimination based on (race, and) National origin !!!

------------- Good thing the Japanese tourists didn't rise up in protest, like the Chinese are doing now.
