These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on 2023-10-16,
and should be interpreted accordingly.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers in a single followup to the newsgroup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

All questions were written by members of the Usual Suspects and
are used here by permission, but have been reformatted and may have
been retyped and/or edited by me. The posting and tabulation of
current-events questions is independent of the concurrent posting
of other rounds. For further information please see my 2023-05-24
companion posting on "Questions from the Canadian Inquisition
(QFTCI*)".

I wrote one of these rounds.

* Game 4, Round 4 - Sports - Roberto Clemente Day

Major League Baseball recently marked Roberto Clemente Day.

The first two questions relate to the man himself.

1. Clemente was one of the best players to play the game, both
an exceptional hitter and fielder. He stands as the only Puerto
Rican player to be part of what exclusive "club" as a hitter?

2. In his 18-year career, how many times was Clemente selected
for the All-Star team?

We mentioned that Clemente was Puerto Rican. The rest of this round
is about *other* Puerto Rican major-league players. In each case,
name the player.

3. This 2-time World Series champion, Hall of Famer second baseman
ended his career with 210 home runs, 12 All-Star selections,
10 Gold Glove awards, and 4 Silver Sluggers. Unfortunately,
his post-baseball career was overshadowed by #MeToo-style
allegations.

4. This Hall of Fame catcher is widely considered the best
catcher in modern baseball history. He finished his career
with a remarkable 311 home runs, a .296 batting average, 14
All-Star selections, 13 Gold Gloves, and a 2003 World Series
ring, and he was the 1999 American League MVP.

5. In his 17 years as a Yankees catcher, this player won 5 Silver
Sluggers, attended 5 All-Star games, and had two top-12 finishes
in MVP voting. He also has 4 World Series championship rings.

6. This 9-time All-Star served on 7 teams over 20 years, including
two stints with the Houston Astros. He helped Houston win the
2017 World Series in his final playing year at age 40, having
amassed 435 home runs, 2,725 hits, 1,587 RBIs, 3 Gold Gloves
and 2 Silver Sluggers.

7. The National League Rookie of the Year with the Giants in 1958,
he racked up 379 home runs, 1,365 RBIs, 11 All-Star selections,
and was the 1967 National League MVP.

8. This former Blue Jay played for 17 seasons, ending his career
with the Mets. Over that time, he had 473 home runs, 1,512 RBIs,
and 3 Silver Sluggers, and was a 2-time All-Star.

9. This father of a former Blue Jay spent 18 years in the big
leagues, from 1970 to 1988, playing for the Cardinals, Astros,
and Yankees. He amassed 2,251 hits over his career, including
165 home runs, and stole 317 bases.

10. This outfielder played for 17 seasons for 4 different teams,
most notably for the Texas Rangers. During that time he hit
434 home runs and 1,936 hits, winning 2 MVP awards and 6 Silver
Sluggers.

* Game 4, Round 6 - Science - Satellites

On each of the first 8 questions we will name one or more
satellites, or moons if you prefer, that orbit a particular planet
or some other type of body, and you name that body. For example,
we say the Moon, you say the Earth. Some answers will repeat.

1. Titan and Iapetus. Again: what do they orbit?
2. Titania, Oberon, and Puck.
3. Triton and Nereid ["KNEE-ree-id"].
4. Charon ["CAR-on"] and Nix.
5. Callisto and Io ["EYE-oh" or "EE-oh"].
6. Janus, Calypso, and Mimas.
7. Deimos ["DEE-mohss"].
8. Europa, Ganymede, and Amalthea [4 syllables].

9. The satellite Dactyl was discovered by the space probe Galileo.
*Either* name the body it orbits *or* just tell what kind of
body that is.

10. There are two planets in the solar system that don't have
any moons. Name *either*.
