These questions were written to be asked in Toronto on the dates
indicated, and should be interpreted accordingly. If any answers
have changed due to newer news, you are still expected to give
the answers that were correct on that date.

On each question you may give up to two answers, but if you give
both a right answer and a wrong answer, there is a small penalty.
Please post all your answers in a single followup to the newsgroup,
based only on your own knowledge. (In your answer posting, quote
the questions and place your answer below each one.) I will reveal
the correct answers in about 3 days.

All questions were written by members of the Misplaced Modifiers
and are used here by permission, but have been reformatted and may
have been retyped and/or edited by me. The posting and tabulation
of current-events questions is independent of the concurrent posting
of other rounds. For further information please see my 2023-05-24
companion posting on "Questions from the Canadian Inquisition
(QFTCI*)".

* Game 3 (2024-02-12), Round 1 - Current Events

1. Venues have been announced for the 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA
World Cup. Which city will host the majority of those games
played in Canada?

2. "It was a crappy piece of land with nothing on it." This
description of the territory that became Israel forced Selina
Robinson to resign from what body?

3. Medals awarded at the Paris Olympics will include iron from
what surprising source?

4. The army is widely suspected of rigging this week's election
in favor of Nawaz Sharif -- in which country?

5. Which Raptor will replace injured Joel Embiid of the 76ers in
the NBA All-Star Game?

and died this week at the age of 88. Name please.

8. "Puberty blockers for minors? I think we should protect children
and their ability to make adult decisions when they're adults."
Who said this last Wednesday?

9. Second thoughts A: *What ban* -- affecting 45 city parks --
did Toronto councillors vote 21-3 to repeal last week?

10. Second thoughts B: *Which insurance company* reversed the new
policy that would have had it cover specialty drugs obtained
only from Loblaws-owned pharmacies?

* Game 4 (2024-02-26), Round 1 - Current Events

1. What movie won the BAFTA for best film?

2. What newest piece of golden MAGA merchandise did Trump launch
last week?

in a $35,300,000,000 US deal?

4. Canada announced it will send 800 SkyRanger R70 drones worth
$96,000,000 to Ukraine. These will be made in what Ontario city?

What is it?

10. The Supreme Court of *which US state* ruled last week that
