Hi all,

Our is a PACS system. We support storage of many types of dicom objects(CT,MR etc) along with Composite objects like “SR, KO,PR” etc.

I have a question on handling of character set information for “KO” objects ( "Key Object Selection Document Storage"(1.2.840.10008.5..1.4.1.1.88.59))

While Exporting "KO" objects, we are currently converting charcter set information always to "UTF-8(ISO-IR 192) and reconciling the character set information in all the relevant Dicom tags, irrespective of what the “character set” information source image has.

Since we are modifying the character set information that source image has to “UTF-8” during Export, is this a acceptable behaviour as per DICOM? Please suggest
