When creating multiple presentation states (PR) or key image notes (KO) or even structured reports (SR), do I need to generate or assign new Series Instance UID for each objects? Or, Can I use the same Series Instance UID for the same modality types?

For example, if I add two PRs, two KOs and two SRs to a study having two CT series (Scout/Axial), which of the two below is right or recommended?

1) Study has 8 series:
- CT Scout Series
- CT Axial Series
- PR Series with PR Instance 1
- PR Series with PR Instance 2
- KO Series with KO Instance 1
- KO Series with KO Instance 2
- SR Series with SR Instance 1
- SR Series with SR Instance 2

2) Study has 5 series:
- CT Scout Series
- CT Axial Series
- PR Series with PR Instance 1 and 2
- KO Series with KO Instance 1 and 2
- SR Series with SR Instance 1 and 2

The rules are defined in http://dicom.nema.org/medical/dicom/current/output/chtml/part03/chapter_A.html#sect_A.1.2.3

You can have multiple instances in the same series if they are the same Modality, but they need to have been created by the same equipment and the same procedure step (if there is one). E.g., don't add to an existing Series "later". And all the Series information needs to be the same, not just the Series Instance UID (including Series Number and Series Description and any Procedure Step information).
