To: rocksolid.shared.tor
While looking into load balancing (or auto backup servers) in Tor, I
decided to just try it.

Just testing stuff right now but it seems to be working pretty cleanly.
Will continue testing.

I'm sure others already know the problems and/or benefits, but I'm going
to try for myself and see what I find.

A side benefit is that all the search spiders crawling one of my sites,
ignoring robots.txt, will create links that will only work on one version
of the balanced site. Basically creating a bunch of incorrect links for
their search engine.

Exactly. The same onion address is advertised by two different boxes, each
pointing to a copy of the site on their own box. If one box goes down, the
site appears to be running normally. If both are running (most of the
time), you reach one or the other.
