If the remote peer is changed in a section config would there be any
potential buggy results with synchronization?

If the new peer has different article numbering from the local and
former peer would this create conflicts going forward?

If this could cause problems would there be any remediation?

That should not cause a problem.

The new peer data should show up in $spooldir/<section>/<remote_peer:port>.txt
The local data would remain the same as it's only tracking your local article numbers.

When first contacting the remote peer, rslight would start (by default) 1,000 articles back, but would check all message-id's for duplicates with XOVER first. It would not actually download the duplicate articles.

Once caught up, all should run normally.

Your old remote_peer file in $spooldir/... would remain, so if you ever switched back to it, it it would start where it left off.

Hopefully, it should not be a problem. I've done it many times.

Good luck! :)
