Yes, it has some similarity with Syndie. But actually it is based on the ideas of OFS (Our File System) which is not further developed anymore.

In my opinion, Aktie works better than Syndie. It is more intuitive to use and it syncs the posts and files more reliable.

Just give Aktie a try. As you are running I2P, you already have Java installed. Aktie is portable!

You only need to download the latest version of the Aktie JAR. Once downloaded, open a shell, change into the directory and run Aktie with: java -jar aktie.0.5.21.jar

It will then extract the necessary files into a new directory aktie_run_dir and create a database there. This directory could later even be moved to another computer. When starting Aktie, it is only important that you invoke the java command from the parent directory of aktie_run_dir. And if you share files, it would of course also be a good idea if the path stays the same.

Once the GUI has started and the splash screen has disappeared (which can take some time when you run Aktie for the first time), your default anon identity should automatically subscribe to a few basic communities like news.

Then have Aktie just running a few hours and you will see that posts and information on files will appear in the communities. You can also subscribe to more communities and create additional identities.

The next times that you start Aktie, things will get more quickly. Also the syncing of posts and files.
