I don't really have a lot of experience with php, so I am a bit at at
loss. I have installed rslight on the same machine as my pi-hole, as
that one already had lighttpd on it, although I am also trying to get
Synchronet running on it. I have come so far to be able to log into the
admin console on rslight, but it doesn't seem to allow me to create a
new user account with the registration page. It demands a captcha, but
the field is empty and no captcha is shown. Where do I get the captcha
for that from?

Hmm. Doesn't seem to be the issue. I have installed the package for
php-gd and it doesn't seem to change anything.

Do I need a specific version of php-gd? I have installed the 7.2 and the
7.4 versions.

Do you see any files in <webdir>/tmp that look like:
captcha1700640170.png ? These would be generated by php-gd.

I also see that I have NOT updated the INSTALL.md file for php8. There may
be features that do not work pre php8. I will update it as soon as I can,
but have some crap to deal with presently, so it will take a bit of time.

I fixed the INSTALL.md file.

That specific feature should work pre php8, but running php8+ is necessary anyway to make sure everything works.

Btw, I'm assuming the captcha you are talking about is the final question when registering (a math question). There is no other captcha, but there is one mentioned in the code and some php files, so just making sure we're on the same page.

Rslight does not use the newsportal captcha features, so those functions are not used.

yes, I mean the register page. It only showed a missing picture icon.
Anyway, I completely flattened the system and am redoing it right now. I
had some other issues with it and had to put two processes on separate
machines, so I might come back with more questions once I get around
installing it again.

yohooo I am back...
I seriously should know how this works by now, but if you could point me
into the right directino anyway... I have installed rocksolid now, on
the same machine as my synchronet installation (although not in the
folder for that webserver, I noticed that apache was running so I just
used the defaults the installer gave me).
Now I can't access any pages but the setup, the nodelist, and the groups
page. The rest comes up as blank.
Any idea what might be wrong there?

Do you have the <webdir>/rocksolid directory?

Does <webdir>/common/config.inc.php contain correct config info?

Check logs for webserver or php errors. It really should be something simple.

Btw, I actually used to run very early versions of Rslight in the Synchronet web server, and it ran fine :)

yeah but I noticed after putting it in that looking at the machine it
resolved to apache instead of the synchronet webserver, so I just put it
in the standard folder.
I wasn't even aware Apache was installed.

The rocksolid directory is there.

Yes, fdiv requires php > 8.0

It's used to avoid a division by zero error in previous versions of
rslight.

Also, it should run fine without fortune. Just no silly quotes on each
page.
