Lindor, Scherzer and Verlander are the half billion dollar busts. Even if there's a way of getting out from under some of it, the mere thought that all three turned into nothing more than hype has got to be eating at his gut.

FWIW - I don't feel bad for Steve Cohen. First of all, his
pronouncement to want to win a WS in 3 years... that sucked. It is not
how one builds a team and it is not how a fan base connects to a team.

Secondly, I am not found of his as a human being.

I've never met the man, but I know someone who's in a position to rub
elbows with him occasionally. He seemed to like him. What is it that I
don't know?

I had to look Up Milton Balkany. He reads like a guy who wears his
Orthodoxy on his sleeve. Doesn't make him a bad person. Every single
mega-rich guy has a falible background, just like every successful
politician. It's not right but it's how the world works.
