If the NFL is considering expansion & adding
more franchises, the league is going to look
outside the United States for it's next venture.
The league is looking to create an international
division in the coming years, per anonymous
NFL owner ... .

Comment: As implausible as that seems, the
following would open up the possibility of a
3.5 hour flight New York to London, increasing
the likelihood that a European division might
be in the NFL future. Then again, a Mexico City
franchise wouldn't need supersonic airliners.

.... US air giant American Airlines has placed
an order for 20 new supersonic airliners, which
could come into service as soon as 2029.

.... The aircraft in question is called the ‘Over-
ture’ and it’s being made by Boom Supersonic,
an American aviation company. Overtures are
promising to be the world’s fastest airliner &
reach speeds of Mach 1.7 (over 1,300 miles
per hour), which is over double the speed of
current airliners.

At that speed, an Overture will be able to get
from London to New York (usually a 7-hour
flight) in about 3.5 hours.

.... And American Airlines isn’t the only liner to
have snapped up some Overtures. Over 130
have apparently been ordered so far, including
from United Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Japan
Airlines.

.... Boom Supersonic isn’t the only company look-
ing towards a future with mega-fast planes. Hypo-
thetical designs ... show a plane called the ‘Hyper
Sting’ that might be able to reach speeds of 2,500
miles per hour. If it becomes a reality, the ‘Hyper
Sting’ could cut London-New York flight times to
just 80 minutes. ...
