After the first day of free agency, and the days leading up to it, the
Chargers have done the following:

--Released four players under contract: WR Mike Williams, LB Eric
Kendricks, T Andrew Trainer and CB Amechi Uzodinma.

--Retained three of their own free agents: FS Alohi Gilman, K Cameron
Dicker, and T Foster Sarell.

--Signed two external free agents: RB Gus Edwards and TE Will Dissly.

Four of the Chargers' free agents have signed with other teams: Austin
Ekeler, Gerald Everett, Kenneth Murray, Jr. and Amen Ogbongbemiga. Eric
Kendricks has also signed elsewhere.

20 members of last year's Chargers team remain unrestricted free agents:

T Zack Bailey

CB Essang Bassey

C Will Clapp

CB Michael Davis

WR Keelan Doss

WR Alex Erickson

QB Will Grier

WR Jalen Guyton

S Jaylinn Hawkins

LB Justin Hollins

DL Austin Johnson

RB Joshua Kelley

S Raheem Layne

LB Blake Lynch

S Dean Marlowe

LB Tanner Muse

QB Easton Stick

C Cameron Tom

TE Nick Vannett

DL Nick Williams

All this leaves the Chargers with 50 players under contract, including
Corey Linsley, who plans to retire.

The Chargers have several absolute needs: a center, two DL, one or two
LBs (depending on whether Henley could be a credible starter), and a CB.
And they should add at WR and TE.

That's still a lot of needs.

I still think they'll also need another RB, and a backup QB (I wouldn't
re-sign Stick). Hopefully they're able to trade Bosa for an extra pick
or two and free up some more cap room for another veteran signing
(preferably C). While I'm sold on Nabers or Odunze at 5, trading back
may be the wisest move of all.

Yes, the Chargers needs those another RB, and a backup QB. I was just
pointing out the starting positions that are currently unfilled on the
team. It's a daunting list.

Definitely want a veteran at center, and preferably at CB.

Agreed on a veteran center, mainly because that seems to be one of the
positions where it's possible to find a solid player at a reasonable
price in free agency.

I think CB might be better targeted in the draft, either in Round 2 or
later in Round 1 if they do trade down. I think the free agent CB class
is pretty weak from what I've read.
