Well Jim Harbaugh just got suspended for the last three
games of Michigan's regular season. He claims he is totally
innocent and had no knowledge of any "sign stealing" activity.
Don't know if he plans to fight it or not but, in any case
I'll be surprised if they renew his contract.

Don't know if he's fighting it, but the president of the university says the school is working on getting an injunction to let him keep coaching.

I can come up with any number of questions as to what would happen next, but pretty much all of them pretty much depend on Michigan beating Penn State and then Ohio State. (I think a three-way tie between the three if they are 1-1 against each other comes down to the team whose western conference opponents have the better combined record, or if there is a 2-team tie there, whoever won the game between those two teams.)

Three points:

1. Military officers are responsible for every thing their
unit does or fails to do. Same thing applies to Head Football Coaches.
If you believe all that signal stealing went on and neither Harbaugh or his coaches knew
about it, I can get you a great deal on some prime ocean front property in Kansas.

2. The Vegas line is favoring Michigan by 4.5 points over Penn State but
even if Michigan beats them it doesn't matter much because Penn State
has already lost to Ohio State.

3. Ohio State is ranked #1, they are 9-0 undefeated and they played a
tougher schedule than Michigan did. So if Michigan beats Ohio State
they will be the Champs. If not, It's the Buckeyes. Period.

So a team that practices together all week with their coach can't win a game if said coach isn't on the sidelines? There's probably a few ways he could communicate with his replacement during the game.
This seems like an easy way out and he gets to start being on the sidelines after the regular season. Time served.

I have a feeling that will be a moot point by the end of all of this. I see Harbaugh banned when this is all over -- not show-caused, outright banned..

The fact is, though, the entire season needs to be forfeited and Michigan removed from the field. The fact is they went after Harbaugh to avoid having to impose the only real penalty with teeth.

He has accepted the suspension, the Big Ten is out of the probe.

It's down to the NCAA and the College Football Playoff itself to do the right damn thing.

The CFP is probably waiting until after the Michigan-Ohio State game to see if this sorts itself out. I have a feeling the worst the CFP is going to do if Ohio State wins is to send Michigan to the Fiesta Bowl against some Group of 5 team.

I am in the minority on this, but I don't see Michigan vacating/forfeiting/whatever the word is this week any games - that's pretty much reserved for using ineligible players. The NCAA should take its time on this, so it can find out (a) who exactly knew what, and (b) who's willing to cooperate.

Besides, even if the NCAA were to suspend Harbaugh - and it wouldn't be indefinitely - it would probably be less than the length of the NFL coaching contract he would sign.

Or maybe the B10CG with Iowa, but the better chance is the Michigan-Ohio State.

I seriously doubt this investigation will be over before the CFP championship game, in which case, vacating wins won't have any effect on the players. It's not as if the NCAA can say, "Give back any championship rings you received or you lose all remaining eligibility, immediately.

A show-cause is not the same as a suspension. In fact, quite a few show-causes include requirements that if the coach is hired, he has to be suspended for a certain number of games.

Which is why I think, if there was sufficient to punish Harbaugh, the conference should've done it already and parked them for the season.
