I've been watching the race on FreeVee every evening with the wife. She really enjoye watching since she rode a LOT in her day - two and a half crossings of the US plus the girls racing. The middle daughter raced with the 17 year olds and did fairly well since she wasn't afraid of falling. The youngest got 3rd place in the Jr. Nationals but the field was limite. The field was large for Shelly and she got an 18th.

Those two American could bring bicycle racing back to life in the US after the Europeans attacked Armstrong as a cheater when every team leader was doping the same.

If Biden is thoroughly evicted from office and all of his crooked judges dealt with as they should be, business will have a major reawakening which opens the doors for American sponsorships again.

The bit about riding sleepless interested me. Way back in the day, one
of my best century rides ever came after a very fun night in a pub with
friends, drinking beer and listening to an excellent musician until
after closing time. I went to bed at something like 3 AM and rose at
something like 6:30 to get to the start of the century. I had a great
ride and finished with a long sprint.

Could sleeplessness be an advantage?

One night of sleeplessness probably didn't hurt /help one way or the
other. It's all about prep and fitness. Certainly, a few sleepless
nights in a row would contribute to exhaustion, and remember these
riders - especially Visma team riders - have quite literally the best
sports medical team in the business. The team leaders physiology is
monitored daily to track and maintain proper balance for each specific
athlete (based on preseason performance metrics - blood analysis,
hormone responses, etc - not every rider responds the same way to a
specific diet).

Besides that, your sleepless night wasn't a result of anxiety about the
ride the next day.

I think that you should test your theory. With your vast understanding of bodily functions I'm sure that you know that there is absolutely no danger from doing so.
