Here is the BIG question!

What killed all the dinosaurs on earth?

(you do know the definition of the word "all", right? all 20 of them...)

The discovery of the reason they died was made and came out in a journal
paper in June of 1980. The book Cosmos was completed in May of 1980. So
Sagan still wasn't aware of Alvarez's discovery. So you won't find the
real reason for their demise in Cosmos.

A good source of information on that is the book, "T. Rex and the Crater
of Doom" written by Alvarez's son. Read that.

But by reading this book you won't be going anywhere against Sagan's
views. Sagan accepted the work of Alvarez right away. In fact, he and
others, based on that same work, proposed the "nuclear winter" theory
not long after (in 1983).

So read that book with peace of mind that you're not doing anything that
your fellow Brooklyner didn't want :)
