.... how slow HDDs are compared to SSDs.

Doing Win updates on an i7 8-Core 32GB PC that hasn't been run since
2019. So far has taken over 3 hours !

Think a fixed-disk upgrade might just be on the cards ....

Sure was, and it wasn't the internet.

The Seagate Barracuda 7200/1TB now replaced with a Crucial SATA 1TB
(same SATA port, no settings changed), and PC now boots up in just over
10 seconds after the BIOS loading instead of around a minute. I guess
update installs a similar speed improvement.
