Pleased that big numbers and benchmarks on i-whatevers give you such a
stiffy. The speed of that chip/s is undeniable. But at a significant
cost and dubious advantage for most tablet users.

Great if you want to do 4K video rendering on a tablet for some reason,
and are in a hurry.

But tablets in general too fiddly for me apart from trivial edits. I'd
prefer to use a desktop, or grunty laptop with a larger monitor.

I used to think that you were merely very annoying, in spite of being pretty
smart and generally honest. I have reevaluated, and you are now down to
merely annoying. You are bashing pruducts based on nothing, out of ignorance
and some goofy personal “feelings”. My thinking on Apple used to be
somewhat similar to yours, and to all of the other ignorant folks out there.
Then I bought one. That sort of move can open one’s eyes. It opened mine. I
now have the M1 MacBook with VMware Fusion and Win 11 for the couple of
things I need Windows for (both free), and it’s like night and day using
macOS. Soooo many problems have simply disappeared in my photo and music
work.

laptops. now you're backpedaling when proof is provided.

what significant cost? ipads start at around $300, which has a faster
processor than the a12x in the above benchmark. even an older one for
less than that is faster.

there are many people who do exactly that, including recording and
editing videos and podcasts, composing and editing music, taking and
editing photos, and quite a bit more, along with the usual email, web
surfing, document editing, etc, all on an ipad. some even do it on an
iphone.

just because whatever you have is severely limited doesn't mean the
alternatives are also limited.

btw, an ipad can be used *with* a mac, where the user can drag windows,

I laughed at the inference that it is a significant factor for most
people, where the fasterness affects nothing actually done on the
majority of current tablet computers.

Many yes. But not 'most'. FWIW I regularly do many of the above. Not so
much the video, and not so much on a tablet. Not because I can't, but I
prefer larger and multiple screens, a keyboard, and a mouse.

The first cell phones weren't exactly very smart, I think smart refers to them being more than just a phone having apps that made it usually for many things. My first LCD TV was HD ready but not considered smart. I think smart was when you could get apps for youtube and other services.

But an iPad is a specific device, sure it's a tablet and there;s graphic tablets which have a different use.

I'd consider a dialect to use words that are distinctly different, usually associated with accents.

I think they were trunks when the were on the outside of the car in English, not sure when it changed.

A horn is generally something hard that sticks out, in the animal kingdom.

"The guys were honking at the pretty girl as they drove past" has quite
a different meaning in the USA (and Canada ?) than in the rest of the
English-speaking world.

one major advantage of an ipad is that it's very portable.

ipads can also be connected to an external display when needed, along
with a keyboard and/or mouse.

btw, retouching photos and editing video with an ipad & pencil is often
more productive than using a mouse (or a wacom style tablet).

Laptop isn't for many jobs, and tablet or phone in some circumstances.
All do that just fine. My preference is to you the more intensive work
in my studio or workshop environment. Others may prefer not to- that's
their choice and they can buy whatever equipment than adequately enables
them to do that without impediment.

So is any tablet. Yes, some may not boast the capabilities or specs of

Yes, enables one type, download and read emails, web-surf, look at
photos, takes clip and share videos, far more quickly ....
