And the Z8 is rumored to have this camera strap attachment problem.

All possible, but seems strange that established, market leading camera
manufacturers would design cameras with such obvious issues

No problem with mine. In fact seems far more solid that previous cameras.

The strap itself however, while perfectly secure and strong, seems
rather lightweight and 'floppy'.
