Can anybody suggest a decent camera trap or trail camera for use
in pest control? Something is chewing the bark off a lemon tree
and it would be really helpful to identify the critter.

Tried looking on Amazon, but there are hundreds of listings,
most with useless claims of high resolution and no meaningful
description. A good one-megapixel image is fine.

The camera needs to be motion activated and to work at night.
I can arrage to power it using an extension cord. Sound recording
might be nice but probably not necessary. The entire field of view
is probably ten by ten feet from a vantage point fifteen feet distant.
Still image sequences are adequate, video clips would be helpful.

No need for wifi, bluetooth or phone app control. Nice if it's
weatherproof, but shelter can be arranged if needed.

Overall, simpler is better. Cheaper is nice, but image
quality is probably more important.

Hi Bob.
I baught the cheapest possible I could find, Chinese D001 unbranded,
weatherproof, 8 AA batts, works fine with 4 but for a shorter time.
Doesnt meet its spotting delay spec of 0.3 seconds but otherwise fine,
about 1 sec for stills and 5 secs for video at night. I always set it to
take a still+video so it misses nothing! No sophisticated settings but
does the job, as usual Chinglese instructions not perfect! C+
