If 1m =10dm..then I can say that 1dm *10dm = 10dm^2
but, above all, I can say that 1i *1i *10i =10dm^3.=10kg.
The squares measure as areas.. and.. as a basis for
define the Volumes... small and large, given that the world is...

...made of matter..so it's not enough to say that 1m*2m =200i^2
If I add 1i I have to say 1i *10i *20i = 200i^3=200kg. But it is..
Obviously I can start from 1mm^3=1milligram.
How.. I can continue with the cm^3 which is worth 1 gram.

So it's not clear why not start from 1• = 1mm. view
that 1m =10dm..100cm..1000mm..I must specify the relatives..m^3:

1• *1m * 1000m = 1m^3 = 1billion •^3 Alias 1• *1000• *1000'000•.
1cm * 1m *100m = 1m^3 = 1.million there cm^3. Alias 1c *100c *10'000c.
1dm * 1m *10m = 1m^3.. =====> 1000 dm^3. Aka 1dm *10dm * 100dm.

To make 1m^2 from 0.001 it takes 0.001 *1000m.=1m^2.
To make 1m^2 from. 1cm takes 0.01 *100m === 1m^2.
To make 1m^2 from 1dm it takes 0.1 *10m === 1m^2.
