An unexpected irony. The killer of rec.aviation.soaring in google groups is ....
Google.

It appears the source of most of the Usenet spam is Google itself.
Usenet news administrators (there are still those?) are considering cutting the link.

Naw. I sent in a request to join and didn't hear anything.
I'll try again if and when I have something to say there.

Not sure it matters. Google's groups, like ras_prime, are not the culprit.
The problem is Google's support of RAS original (this one) and other Usenet groups.

Well, I just spent the time to report over 1200 threads as "spam" or "other". In that, there were 3(?) valid threads for this group.
Oh, and it got me to 11/29/23.
