Russian and Indian lunar landers are both scheduled to touch down
on the lunar surface soon:

"Luna-25 is expected to touch down north of Boguslavsky crater near the Moon’s south pole on Aug. 21. The main scientific goal of Russia’s first lunar mission in nearly 50 years is to confirm the existence of water ice deposits in the polar areas."

See:

https://aviationweek.com/defense-space/space/russias-luna-25-lander-settles-moons-orbit

========================

"The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Thursday confirmed that the lander module of the Chandrayaan-3, which means “moon craft” in Sanskrit, had “successfully separated” from the propulsion module."

"The announcement came six days ahead of a planned landing slated for August 23. If successful, India will join just three other countries that successfully landed a spacecraft on the Moon."

Yes. This is quite different from the sixties when the two superpowers
were racing for then moon. Now the superpowers are racing for the moon,
second tier countries have moon programs. And some private companies
have moon plans.

The moon is becoming a big deal again:

"Unlike the days of Apollo, the modern-day race to the Moon involves establishing a sustainable presence and a thriving economy on and around Earth’s natural satellite.

In an attempt to guide ongoing efforts in establishing a lunar infrastructure, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) kicked off a seven-month study dedicated to developing an analytical framework for scientific and commercial activity on the Moon. Through the 10-Year Lunar Architecture, or LunA-10, study, DARPA is seeking ideas for technology and infrastructure concepts that could help build a Moon-based economy within the next decade."

While I would love to have moon bases, I don't believe they are going to
be anything other than a money sink. It's not like the Moon is full of
resources after all.

Another lunar lander mission prepares to launch:

"Intuitive Machines is gearing up for the launch of its mission to the Moon, hoping to become the first private space venture to land on the lunar surface. The company recently stated that its lunar lander would be ready to fly in September, with plans to launch the Nova-C lander to the Moon in November."

Russian moon lander fails:

"Russia's first moon mission in 47 years failed when its Luna-25 space craft spun out of control and crashed into the moon after a problem preparing for pre-landing orbit, underscoring the post-Soviet decline of a once mighty space programme.

Russia's state space corporation, Roskosmos, said it had lost contact with the craft at 11:57 GMT on Saturday after a problem as the craft was shunted into pre-landing orbit. A soft landing had been planned for Monday."

India lands a spacecraft near the moon’s south pole, a first for the world as it joins elite club

"India on Wednesday made history as it became the first country in the world to land its spacecraft near the moon’s south pole, an uncharted territory that scientists believe could hold vital reserves of frozen water, and the fourth country to achieve a moon landing.

A lander with a rover inside touched down on the lunar surface at 6:04 local time, sparking cheers and applause among the space scientists watching in the southern Indian city of Bengaluru. After a failed attempt in 2019, India now joins the United States, the Soviet Union and China in reaching this milestone."
