Hey, did you guys know that Peter Rich, the well-known proprietor of Velo Sport Cyclery in Berkeley, California, and organizer/sponsor of the Tour of California back in the '70s, died on August 3?

I lived in Berserkeley for about 25 years and patronized Velo Sport a lot. I bought my first 10-speed road bike from Peter in 1962: a Bianchi Record with cottered steel cranks and Universal side-pull brakes, because I couldn't afford a more expensive one. Peter was one of the few guys who was importing European road bikes at the time. (Spence Wolf of Cupertino Bike Shop was the only other guy I knew who was selling them.) I really thought I was hot stuff when I got that bike.

I forgot to mention that Peter was a very kind and patient person who was always very nice to his customers.

Horse back riding and bicycle riding have some common ground, along
with canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and maybe parasailing. In my
opinion, motorcycles do not fit in... too noisy.

I've never tried parasailing, but there are other mostly silent
activities I've done that do fit in, like hiking, bird watching,
swimming, but not scuba diving and sailing because bicycling, sailing
and scuba require instructors and/or books that bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb

Whoops,...... ****instructors and/or books that aren't needed for
horse back riding and bicycle riding, canoeing, kayaking, and
paddleboarding.
