Most of it was. S18 was definitely in the 1980's though, and
possibly the last part of S17... but the glory days of Tom Baker
were the 1970's.

The early 80's were an okay time for Doctor Who though... Tom
was past his peak, but Peter Davison had some good stories. It
was around the middle of that decade where things went
off-kilter for Doctor Who.

For the most part, yes. But he was in the roll until 1981. JN-T's
first season was Tom Baker's last.

For me 1970s also, although the opener of the current series with tennant
and tate was brilliant. JP was my favorite, TB 2nd; sometimes seemed to be
taking the piss. if they could redo the 1970s episodes with all
the modern SX and CGI, they would be fantastic. I thought Capaldi was also
very good, but the storylines wernt.

I watched him in the 80s so I always thought of him as an 80s Doctor.
It's so weird looking back on it now and realizing he was long gone by
the time I started to watch. Even in the early 90s his episodes were
still being rerun, probably more than the later Doctors. I think by the
McCoy took over my local PBS station was getting them pretty close to
the U.K. airings and that just reinforced the idea that I had always
been watching them close to real time.

For me that was the 1960s, but I don't consider that the best decade.
For me that would have to be the 1970s. And though William Hartnell was
my first Doctor, I consider Tom Baker's Doctor the best. Colin Baker's
was the worst - through no fault of his own, it was just that the way
the series chose to develop his character was misguided IMO.
