Problem with doing a "Legends" season is they basically already did that
through a combination of "Game Changers" and "Winners at War". And other
than Hatch and Hantz (neither of whom is likely to be invited), who else
would qualify as a legend that didn't appear on one of the earlier two
seasons? After a while, it gets a little bit absurd bringing the same
"greatest players" or all-stars or whatever you want to call them back over
and over for yet another iteration.

Now what would be interesting to me and to fans of the international
versions would be some kind of All-Star or Greatest Player season that
included players from the US, Australian and South African seasons, along
with perhaps a token player or two from the UK and New Zealand seasons all
competing against one another. I think it would be possible to have, say,
five players from the US, five from Oz, five from SA and maybe two from NZ
and one from the recent UK season. Now THAT would be pretty interesting and
could perhaps be simulcast in all five countries, which would be a
legitimate world-wide event. Could it happen? Maybe. It's been talked
about from time to time and I think there is enough synergy between the
various English-language versions that perhaps some variant of what I'm
talking about could be pulled off.

Am I going to hold my breath on this? No. But it would definitely fit the
bill as something worthy enough of the US show's 25th anniversary or 50th
season celebration.

There's been rumors for several years that S50 will be a Legends season
which would be cool but I don't see that happening. Would Hatch play?
Would Jeff want Russell back? What incentive would have to be offered to
people such as Tony, Boston Rob, Sandra, and Parv to get them to play
again? A $5 million pot with a $100K appearance fee? Another problem
with doing a Legends season is no one from the New Era can be considered
a legend. By this time next year we should know what they've decided to do.
