My stepmum, was taken ill not long after my dad died and needed a heart
transplant. She drew up lots of lists and left things where I could find
everything. When she had to go into care I was able to retrieve the
paperwork, she’d kept everything belonging to *her mum* who’d died in
1986!! I was then able to cross reference lots of information. Mum kept
in touch with people as long as they wrote back - and she kept cards from
year to year. Those who could, locally, visited her till covid. Her
birthday and xmas, she had cards and plants and flowers. The staff were
impressed with this and her stream of local visitors. Even the 2.5 yrs
from her death to when we were allowed proper memorial services, there were
around 50 at that service. But it take me a *lot* of time writing emails
and phoning people. It was worth it though. She gave all her time to
others, it was right I did for her. Not everyone can, though!
