Say Karl Howman and I immediately think of the 1980s TV sitcom Brush
Strokes. Latex and I used to love watching that programme - perhaps
your cousin remembers it?

He was in another radio series (by the excellent Jim Eldridge of King
St Junior fame) called Coming Alive but I don't think there have been
any repeats recently on R4x.

For two people born in 1953, especially with an unusual surname, it
ought to be possible to trace back to see if there's a common ancestor,
at least if 1837Q3 or later, without too much difficulty. Start at
FreeBMD.org.uk . There were only 3+3+0+1=7 Howman births registered in
1953 (Karl was the Q4 one, Dartford area, MMN Strelley). [Before 1911Q3
FreeBMD doesn't show MMN, but the GRO does.]

Wasn’t it a Sunday evening repeat once upon a time? OAM? Probably should
just get on with the whisking.

Don’t think my cousin’s a radio person at all.

She’s June. And it’s here. We know there are a number around here from
seeing vehicles and places such as the university but I don’t have the
sight to go digging about. I know of one or two names who would have been
dad’s generation and it’s said my grandad had brothers. I did sed to know
a mum and a daughter but I was never told of a husband. I can’t remember
her dad’s name but by coincidence I was introduced to her mum in the
mid-1970s.

Can’t expect people to do leg work for me these days.

I was going to look for you, but there are only two June Howman births
shown in FreeBMD, neither in 1953 (1940Q3 MMN Pack, Northwich area, and
1942Q1, Tye, Hull).
