A dad from Erskine has sadly passed away after he crashed his bike at Knockhill Racing Circuit.

Chris Adam, 38, lost his life following a tragedy at the national centre in Dunfermline.

The dad-of-one was critically injured on Friday during a track day and was rushed to Kirkcaldy's Victoria Hospital, where he died two days later on Sunday, reports the Record.

The bike enthusiast owned dealership CA Motorcycles and has been hailed as a 'genuine' and 'lovely' individual as fellow motorcycle lovers paid tribute.

Chris' brother Blair Adam said: "It’s with the heaviest of hearts I’m writing this as my brother, Chris Adam has sadly passed away today after succumbing to his injuries sustained on Friday during his track day at Knockhill. Rest easy brother."

One customer wrote: "He was such a lovely and genuine guy. My husband and I bought a bike from him last year and his customer service was absolutely spot on. Will miss seeing his bike posts.

"Ride in Peace Chris, can’t believe it."

Former neighbour Stephanie McIntyre said: "So sorry and sad to hear this devastating news.

"We lived next door to Chris in Inchinnan and he was a great guy, good nights and lots of laughs we shared! Heartbroken for him."

Mobile Motorcycle Services said: "Something I never thought I would be writing. The worst accident happened to a great friend and amazing guy. With a very heavy heart Chris Adam of CA Motorcycles passed away today.

Isle of Man TT organisers have announced that the French sidecar passenger Olivier Lavorel had died of his injuries, bringing the death toll for this year’s event to six. Lavorel suffered serious injuries and his compatriot César Chanal was killed in a crash on 4 June.

Irish rally driver Craig Breen has died aged 33 after a crash in Croatia.

Breen, who competed for Hyundai, had been taking part in a pre-test event in Croatia ahead of the latest round of the world championship.

His car is thought to have gone off the road and collided with a pole on Thursday while he was preparing for his second rally of the season next week, according to reports.

A statement from Hyundai Motorsport announced Breen's death in a statement, saying it was "deeply saddened to confirm that driver Craig Breen today lost his life following an accident during the pre-event test for Croatia Rally".

The team said co-driver James Fulton had avoided injury during the incident, which happened just after midday local time.

"RIP Craig" was trending on Twitter as tributes were paid for Breen.

Formula 1 star Fernando Alonso has led the tributes after two rally drivers racing in Spain's Villa de Tineo race were killed in a horrifying accident.. Spanish rally driver Julio Cesar Castrillo and co-driver Francisco Javier Alvarez both died from their injuries after colliding with a tree at a high speed in the Asturias region.

The pair were driving a Citroen DS3 N5 car in the penultimate stage of the race when they lost control and smashed into a tree away from the track, leaving their car in a wreck.

It is reported that both men lost their lives shortly after the incident, which led to the rest of the event being suspended by race officials on the second day of the rally event. The pair were from Oviedo and have been described as two legends of the sport with more than 20 years' experience.
