Whenever I have looked into replacement heads or cutters for my shavers,
there seems to be a _very_ close relationship between the cost of spares
and the price of a new shaver.

To be fair, it's the most important part of the shaver. It's precision
made integrated foil and cutter blades. The rest of the shaver is
mostly just battery and motor.

When I buy a replacement shaver I get the cheaper version stripped
of accessories. There is room enough in the cabinet for only a few
cleaning brushes and little tubes of oil.

They're a bit like brushes for an Oral B - keep tabs on Amazon's deals,
they appear fairly regularly.

My favourite mains shavers were the mains only Remington's that ran at
50Hz and had a weighty chunk of metal inside the case. When they went
battery, to save power they made the mechanics lighter, and the
efficiency of cutting stubble poorer.

A decent mains only shaver is a rare thing nowadays, and if I were to
find a non-rotary beast, the insides would probably be some lightweight
junk DC motor from their battery range and a world voltage switching
power supply.

I don't do wet shaves that well, it's messy and I get cuts.

Silly factoid...

The early ones used the weight and a spring to resonate at mains
frequency, which made them very efficient. I'm not sure whether they
made one type for the USA and one for the rest of the World, as for the
USA, they needed to resonate at 60 Hz, while just about everyone else
needed 50 Hz.

It's classical "razor blade marketing", standard practise in retail.

I once made a mistake in buying an expensive electric shaver (on sale at
around half price {I wonder why}) which came with some incredibly
complex (and bulky) gadget into which you dunked the shaver in a bath of
expensive cleaning... stuff, which was agitated by a little motor.
It was a lousy shaver & I carried on using my old one instead.

Bought the X^6 a mobility scootererer for Christmas.

Fist gateway she aimed at she hit. Broken mudguard.

Not as bad as me though. Drove mine in reverse down the ramp out of the
new trailer, braked too soon. Scooterer rolled over backwards with me onnit!

Hotel cleaning staff ran out to pick me up out of the mud and to right
the bucking steed.

I was unhurt, but extremely embarrassed. The X^6 is still laughing about it.

She bought me a nose hair strimmer for Christmas.

Is she trying to tell me something?

I shave when my beard starts to itch. Quick trim with sissors then the
clippers on my rechargeable shaver to tidy up the edges.

Yes, Minne are now mostly grey and white. Why does the ink run out on hair?.
Maybe its supplied in the same way that HP fill their toner carts on new
printers, ie less than half way.

I have a special set of nail clippers that works on nose hair. With regard
to buggies, I don't think your experiences are unusual when somebody gets
one. Luckily, thus far my legs are OK and I can still run up stairs, but all
the people I knew when they were young who took up sports have artificial
hips and knees now. I, being the worlds worst at any sport just sat under a
tree and kept what eyesight I had on peoples belongings.
