Indeed, BT,DT; it was at home, too. Fortunately no damage was done

A friend of mine discarded an "empty" one in an ash tray, then discarded
a lit cigarette end on to of it. She was famous for not stubbing the out
properly. A few minutes later "woomph".

I knew that. (I'm 81 and know about a lot of old style things.) How
are new style glof balls different? (I don't have one to disassemble.)

I also knew that. Charcoudian's Pharmacy must have wondered why a
young teenager needed so much soda.

As yet, no spearmints with lithium batteries. Is cryptocurrency
running neck and neck with lithium batteries to decide the truth of:

This how the world ends,
Not with a bnag but a whimper.

I gather that they tend to be solid composite construction these

Young Tone, I blame you and this thread for my downfall.

A few minutes go I was sitting here, preparing some notes on fitting a
replacement radiator (domestic, not car), and I felt this sinking feeling.

I figured out which control on this chair manages the elevation[1] &
returned it to the correct height. Another sinking feeling.
Rinse and repeat a couple of times & now it is holding up - but for how
long?

[1] There are 5 separate levers & knobs on this chair, & I've forgotten
what they all are supposed to do.

In the past I have had this issue. Depending where the problem is I have
cut a plastic plumbing pipe to the height needed, then sawn it along its
length to get it around where it's required. Then I applied it as a
spacer, with either a Jubilee clip or wide cable tie around it to secure.

Fortunately (tempts fate) all current chairs are OK...

Don't know why it jbexs but next time it dumps you, try turning it
upside down for a few minutes*. Might give you a few more daisies.

*Then turn it upright again, before the Shedddi wits get at it.

According to my assembly distructions wot I have just dun on my new
chair, the chair seat is just a push fit on top of the cylinder, and the
cylinder is a push fit into the base. Might need a solid clout or car
jack to separate them though.
