(Chorus)
Old Drivers never die
Like brakes they fade away
To that great lay-by in the sky
Where tea is served all day

(Chorus)

Where all are issued spray-on sheets
And Indian rope trick ropes
And cabs have beds as well as seats*
And hills are gentle slopes

(Chorus)

Where traffic lights are always green
And phone boxes aren't broken
And silent checks are never seen
Nor sleeping drivers woken

(Chorus)

Where there is no need to flog the log
Nor run home on a dodgy
And no-one's heard of ice or fog
And bacon rolls aren't stodgy

(Chorus)

The sun is always shining
And pay-days come in fives
And roads have a silver lining
Where the soul of a Driver drives

(Chorus)

*Lyrics to a song I wrote back in the late 60s. long before sleeper cabs
became the norm.

Thank you for the invite fellas, but I don't want to "upset the dynamic"
of this wonderful uniquely British Shed with the blatherings of an ol'
hippie Yank cowgirl. I should prolly continue in lurker mode... which
started waaay back when Cane and Bastard Bear mentioned you in 2eggs.
Know that you do amuse me so.

It is a shame really.

There have been a number of leftpondian lurkers and posters to this
group; however along with the sad reduction of interest in Usenet they
have greatly reduced.

You are welcome here, as are all the other Leftpondian shedizens. We
even accept your strange spelling of some worms. There is a box over in
the corner with a few spare "u" and "s" letters. Next to the one holding
the Oxford commas.

ROT 13 is not generally obligatory, except for the four letter worm
describing actual rssbeg or rzcyblzrag.

If you find it a promble, then there are online decoders such as this one.

A few days past, I put up a recipe on free.toast

It is very simple and with a little bit of practice, (temperature of the
hot plate and when to turn over), it makes lovely crumpets.

The location of the cricket pitch with the easiest weather forecast in
the world. If you can see the hills from the commentary box, it's about
to rain. If you can't, it's already raining.

I never really noticed its wetness - perhaps I just thought it normal
because I hadn't experienced anywhere other than Manchester (except maybe
the lakes and Snowdonia, neither of which are particularly dry). What I did
notice were the winter smogs - vivid memories of walking to skule along the
curb so that I knew where I was.

In one smog I became lost when I stepped off the corner of the curb and
totally lost my bearings. I did not even know which corner I had
stepped off, never mind which direction I should have been walking in.

On another occasion I went to a performance of Iolanthe at Skule.
Standing at the back of the hall you could not make out anything on
stage, other than lights and a sense of movement.

A skule days, best days of your life?
